After applying power, start tapping the F8 key. It will open a menu that has several boot options. If you need networking it is available or if there is a problem with the video driver you can select a native mode VGA boot. Safe Mode is usually used for running a restore point or fixing a driver problem.

keep on tapping f8 key,
then a list will come,
choose safe mode from it.

As you are rebooting, just start tapping F8....system will boot into "safe mode"

I keep tapping it several times every second or two and it works for me.
