I am wondering why there is no UK deputy PM...
On the DPM webiste there is a notice saying "this website is being kept for historical purposes and will not be updated."
Is there going to be one under Gordon brown...
or is there ever going to be one again?

The position of Deputy Prime Minister is not a permanent office and it is more of an honorific position than anything else. Seeing Blair had so many problems because of the last Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, I am not surprised Brown did not appoint one.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper also does not have a Deputy Prime Minister in title. He is the first Canadian PM not to appoint a deputy since 1977. The government however has established a order of precedence that states the Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon is second in command so he is sort of a defacto Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.
