I agree the basic rewirable fuse board complies with the regulations to a point, if say, yours was a first floor flat with no access to use power out of doors and the box is in good condition and all fuses are loaded with the correct fusewire then this would not cause concern in an inspection, but if you have outdoor circuits or showers or additions which require RCD protection then a more modern board would be required. but dont let them bully you into reducing your price a new board and main earth bonding shouldnt cost more than £450-00 depending on the difficulty of the job

I sold my house 1 year ago in June and i had the 2 same problems. you must get the consumer unit changed at your cost .and hope that you don't have any of the old rubber covered wire because all that is coming out.as for tha damp course you must supply an upto date report. and just think about it,if you were buying a house and you were told certain things needed doing of course you would want the seller to have all this work done.and in truth it not to much to ask.Just think of some of the crap that some people would try to sell.

There's nothing wrong with having rewireable fuses.
They are STILL legal. Troubles come when the householder wishes to add sockets etc, and no-one will touch it because it hasn't an RCD.

Unless the Insulation between the wires is breaking down, or the fusebox is physically damaged OR it's hanging off the wall
OR they've crammed six circuits onto four fuses then it's not faulty.

If they want to 'improve' it by putting in a modern board, then you shouldn't have to pay for it.

The phrase "Covering their backside" comes to mind.

Get onto your electricity supplier and ask them for a wiring check most do it free of charge,As for damp proofing get at least three quotes from reliable companies. You need certificates to sell property.
