I am working a on a book a children's book of great female musicians (singers, composers, instrumentalists), that's all opinion I know, from all over the world and from many genres (opera, blues, salsa, broadway, slack key, soweto blues, bhangara etc.) Women who blazed the way for the female muscians of today. This includes the USA because it is part of the world. So I want nominations of Arabic legends, Eastern European legends, Greek legends, J-pop Legends; Percusionists, guitarists, composers, singers anyone you think is worthy to be in such a book etc.

Now to make it easier or harder here are some obvious choices I already have from the US and few from other countries.

Ella Fitzgerald
Billie Holiday
Bessie Smith
Aretha Franklin
Bonnie Raitt
Etta James
Tina Turner
Koko Taylor
Joni Mitchell
Janis Joplin
Celia Cruz
Edith Piaf
Marlene Dietrich
Ofra Haza

So nominate 3 or more and make sure to list their country of origin. Best three gets best answer.
