My 6 month old recently started rubbing her eyes and her head when she's tired. I was wondering if any other little ones out there did that, or what else they do to tell us they're tired (besides crying-lol).

My son is 4 months and starting doing this at about 31/2 months. As soon as I see him rub his eyes I give him a pacifier and put him either in his bouncy seat or crib and he goes right to sleep. he does this about twice a day and takes about an hour nap. It is too cute!

Yea, eye rubbing is a good one. Mine tends to have a wild half hour as well - throws himself from one end of the settee to the other. Gets very cranky too. And actually takes himself to the stairgate at the bottom of the stairs recently - but he's 12 months older than yours!

My daughter is one and didnt even start to rub her eyes to show her sleepy-ness until she was about 11 mos. But now thats what she does too, and she'll make this loud annoying whine... never a cry lol. Plus she'll ask to be picked up too.

Yes they will do that. Some babies will rub the side of the head and ear and eyes. I have been in child care for 20 odd years in daycare and private child care.

My 6.5 month old does a vacant stare for a minute or so and then proceeds with the eye and ear rubbing.

yes they do and that is a big indicator that they're getting tired and when they get cranky and try to fight falling asleep. :)
