On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington, DC, are displayed two words: Laus Deo. No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn't care less.

So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, they say "Praise be to God!"

Actually the Washington Memorial is an obelisk that is built on both Greek and Egyptian obelisks ... which is something people do to 'honor' certain 'national heroes' ... this one is not to 'honor' the CITY of Washington, D.C. but to honor our first PRESIDENT, George Washington. The name of the city is 'Washington' because of that, too, by the way.

George Washington was a freemason - when they built his memorial, they built an obelisk, a freemason symbol.
