How many liters of a 15% cleaning solution must be mixed with 3 liters of a 60% cleaning solution in order to obtain a 45% cleaning solution?

15x + 3*60 = 45(3+x)
15x + 180 = 135 + 45x
45 = 30x
x = 1.5 liters

Let y be the total number of litres of 45% cleaning solution obtained.

(y-3)(15) + 3(60) = 45y
15y - 45 +180 = 45y
30y = 135
y = 9/2
= 4 1/2
4 1/2 - 3 = 1 1/2

(X)(0.15) + (3)(0.6) = (3+X)(0.45)...X=1.5 liters
