Liberals don't mind discussing who is more patriotic if patriotism is defined as redistributing income and handing out entitlements. Only if patriotism is defined as supporting America do they get testy and drone on about 'NEOCONS'.

I think there is probably a very small minority of Americans who actually call themselves LIBERALS.

Even though on this site, there are plenty of LIBERALS. People who are proud of that name. These are not the average Americans.

And those of us who are proud of being called NEOCONS are also not the average Americans.

To answer your question, who really knows. LOL

Here in America liberals wrote The Declaration of Independence, fought england and won freedom from great britain while the cons of the day were brit boot lickers, wrote The Constitution and The Bill of Rights.

What have cons done for the USA that is patriotic?

Let's celebrate Independence Day by attacking fellow Americans. Doesn't this strike you as being somewhat unpatriotic.

Answer: Conservatives, liberals and citizens of all varying political philosophy in between the two antipodal archetypes can be PATRIOTS. All that is required is to love the basic tenets of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and The Bill Of Rights. Stop playing into the hands of the "evil doers."

Patriotism is not Conservatism. So if you define being patriotic as being in favor of conservative issues, then liberals will look unpatriotic.

But if you define being patriotic as supporting freedom of expression, opposing an erosion of personal liberty, and opposing unjust imprisonment and mistreatment of prisoners, then Liberals look more patriotic than Conservatives.

I love my country and I love all the brave men and women in the armed forces. Just because I don't agree with the neocon agenda doesn't mean I'm not patriotic. I have a flag waving in my front yard right now, and I send cookies and letters to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. I also support ALL human rights and go to church on Sunday and Wednesday. I volunteer at the local homeless shelter and I give out free food and write resumes for those less fortunate than me.

What do YOU ever do but sit on Yahoo Answers all day?

Don't tell THIS Liberal that she's not patriotic!
Get off your high horse, buddy, or I'll have you deported.

i would say most liberals are at least as patriotic as any conservative, if not more so...an important difference is that we know that supporting America is not the same as supporting an incompetent lying bunch of fascists who make up our current administration...someone once said that conservatives love America like a 3 yr old loves his mommy-she can do no wrong, regardless...and liberals love America like a mother loves her 3 yr old...knowing that the child, while wonderful, needs help and guidance to become a better person...

In answering your initial question, and not your rant, Liberals can be patriotic as exemplified by their support of the US Constitution; specifically, the Bill of Rights.

Remember, Liberals drafted the Bill of Rights, and were responsible for winning our freedom from Great Britain.

Samual Adams, Jon Jay, Patrick Henry; all liberals.

The conservatives were called Tories, and supported the British.

On this glorious Fourth of July holiday, I raise my glass in toast to America and the Liberals who fought to make us free.

Absolutely, a liberal who opposes the current goverment including the presidental pardons of those who commit treason, by outing CIA agents is very patroitic.

Liberals support America it is the Neocons that sell it.

Was it patriotic for Bush to fly Saudi's connected with Osama out of the country after 9/11 before they could be questioned by the FBI or CIA?

Was it patriotic for Bush to open encourage attacks on US Troops, when he said "Bring it on"?

Unlike yourself and that reactionary sillierkimmie. I believe we all can be patriotic and believe differently about issues. It is what America is founded on. Whats wrong with believing we should take care of each other? Whats so unpatriotic about that? I support America and I support Americans.

What kind of question is this? I am sure there are soldiers in Iraq right now who are fighting for you and I that are liberals. Are they unpatriotic because of their political beliefs even though they are fighting in a war to protect you. This liberal and conservsative bashing is childish and absurd.

I suppose it's possible but highly unlikely! I've heard them say, "We support the troops, but not the mission!" Well we "cons" and "neo-cons" have a message for them, "If you don't support the mission, you are *not* supporting the troops!"

Too many of the Drive-by Media and people like Hilliary, Madeline Albright, John Kerry, et. al., don't believe that they should be biased *in favor* of America, because "Americans have so much", because "We're the world's only superpower and it's just not fair", "We're the world's richest nation so we should share our nation's wealth with other, less fortunate nations", etc. I've got one, loud, word for them, "BULLSH*T!"

Hey, "Paul hxyz": In the middle of the road is a good place to get run over! If you don't stand for *something*, you'll fall for "anything"! Was FDR a liberal? Yes. Was he a patriot? No! Was he honest? No! Did he know Japan was going to attack Pearl Harbor? Yes, so he could use that as an excuse to declare war on Germany! Did he share enriched uranium and pass nuclear weapons secrets to the Soviet Union? Yes! Did he get blamed for it? No, we executed Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for it instead!

No, "Ruth": Most liberals call themselves, "progressives", while we cons (conservatives) and neo-cons (= "new" or neo-conservatives) call them "socialists", "fellow travelers" and "communists"!
