Start asking him questions about life so you know if he's really the guy you want to be with forever. If you can't ask him right out if he thinks you'll always be together, then he should get the hint and open the issue for dicussion.
Like... do you want kids, how many? Where do you see yourself in 5, 10, 20 years? When it comes to owning a home would he want country or city? Do you think you could stay with someone if they became handicapped (like wheelchair bound or blind)?? Do your parents think of me as part of the family?

Remember, it's forever, have some standards & think about what qualities you want from a spouse and if he doesn't have the most important ones on your list.... re-think. Young people get divorced at the drop of a hat now-a-days because they only think with the present in mind instead of planning for a future (which is what getting married is all about).

PS -- If you are sure.... why not propose to him? Guys take a HUGE risk when they pop the question -- be prepared to deal with the answer, whatever it may be.
Good Luck!!

In order to know if the two of you are right for each other, you should be discusssing your life goals, how each of you feels about children and how many, religious beliefs, careers. Only after finding out if you are on the same page with these things do you take the next step toward marriage. So start talking and forget about him asking until you have the right answers.

Drop big, but subtle hints, like; "Man, I think this is a great age for people to get married." or; "I think I'd be ready for marriage if someone asked me..." with that, the idea will pop into his head, and he'll ask you. If he doesn't pick up on it fast enough, keep saying things like that. Soon enough he'll come around.
Good luck!

Something like that needs in depth discussion. Talk to him about it and find out how he views marriage. If you two see it the same way, just give him a little more time, he'll come around.

Start talking about it with him. Drop little hints here and there, and mention that your parents would like to be asked for your hand.

My boyfriend (at the time) caught me looking at wedding dresses, soon after he was asking me to measure my ring finger for "future reference".

This is something the two of you should really discuss, even the fact that he needs to get your parents consent.

Who knows how he really feels about marriage, and you will never know unless you two talk about it seriously and in depth.

The question is does HE want to get married? Does HE want to marry you? It's not all about what YOU want.
