The voters will take out on John McCain all of the frustration they want to take out on Bush and Cheney. He represents them and he will never get anywhere in the nomination. He's a dead man walking - politcally speaking.

It's amazing how John McCain can pick the wrong thing at the wrong time to support a run for the President.
I'm about to determine that he really don't want the job.
For example:
When President Bush's poll numbers fall to the low level they are now John McCain decides to support the war in Iraq.
When 80 percent of the American people think that illegal immigation is a serious problem and that open borders with Mexico pose a serious security breach, John McCain supports amnesty for illegals which in effect causes a mass exodus of illegals from Mexico to the United States to get immediate legalization.
I think McCain has poor judgement or just don't want the job.
Thanks

OK!have you been asleep at the switch have you watched television lately gone on the Internet on even picked up a newspaper and open it beyond the comic section.
He has been siding with that idiot in the White House on the Iraq, war from day one and the last time I checked the country and even a lot of Republicans, have said we need to change course on the war and get out yet McCain,is sticking by his guns in his support on and unpopular war which most of the country has had enough of and to run for President and think you are going to get support yeah good luck on that one because it is not going to happen and speaking as a veteran of the military myself I do have much respect for McCain,I am a Navy veterans as he is but he is wrong here and why he is shooting his campaign in the foot by still backing Dumbo,in the White House,is one for very good debate for sure.

McCain's negatives: McCain-Feingold (an abbrogation of our 1st Amendment rights) , wrong on the Immigration (amnesty) bill, support of several state's atty generals in going after Tobacco companies to extort money for lawyers of the trial lawyer's association to share (it was in the Billion's) & non support of tax cuts. I'm an Arizonan registered Republican & I can't stand John McCain & didn't vote for him the last time he was up for reelection & will never again vote for him or Jon Kyle since he supported the amnesty bill. They just don't get it & neither does the Pres (whom I support, most of the time) . Build the fence, then we'll talk!

McCain believes that we can 'win' in Iraq. 2/3 of Americans know that's hokum. A fair sized minority of GOP voters are sick of the way the party has screwed the pooch on just about every issue...for McCain to try to re-sell the shoddy goods that the reactionary Republicans are pushing simply leaves people shaking their heads and wondering what happened to the real McCain. Also, and I hate to say this, McCain is old, used up, tired and gives the impression of a man confused. His time has passed. He was a good guy in his day, but that was then and this is now. An old gunfighter has to know when to hang up his guns....sad, but true!

I think you answered your own question. Even Republicans have some disdain for the Bush administration, and people like McCain and Fred/Giuliani, have pretty much the same ideology in most regards.
The GOP has just a few shining stars that are marginalized, mainly Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul. If you want socialism, vote for Hillary, and to a point, Obama. If you want fascism, vote for Fred, or Rudy McRomney. If you want sanity, vote for Ron, Gravel, Tancredo. If Ron Paul isn't a contender, the extreme left democrats will win.

John McCain is a dangerous man to have power. You can never tell which way he will turn. Carl Rove did him in in South Carlina when he was running against Jr during JR'S first election. Seems Mr Rove spread the rumor that McCain had black children and it ruined him. plus McCain has been married a couple times and the repubs are still trying to run on family values which none of them seem to value family at all. Look at old Rudie with three wives,Newt Gingrich has three and is sleeping with another one now. Bunch of nice family people wouldn't you say

Well despite what he says, sometimes he seems a little close to the Bush camp. Personally I respect the time he put in the service and the hardships he suffered. If I weren't a Democrat I would most likely vote for him. That is sad to say but in recent times with the divide being what it is it's hard to cast my vote for the other team.

the majority of people voting want change. anyone who supports almost anything made by Bush is viewed as not changing anything. that not only explains why he is failing, but why the republican party is failing as a whole. to win an election now, you have got to change some things. the only change McCain will bring is a draft.
