Credentials? Experience? Member of a union? SAG? AFTRA? EQUITY?

If you can define those words and live in the Southern Califorina area, you are closer to the Disney Channel than most.

If you are under the age of eighteen, do your parents support your dream?

If you are not in a union. Stop now. Find a way to get a SAG card or join AFTRA by going to their office on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. These are vital credentials.

Get a copy of Back Stage West. Read the ads for classes. If you are a natural actor (like Zac Efron), only take a class for the connections. Pay no attention to the teaching. If you have talent, but need help, find a teacher whom you trust and who seldom compliments you.

When you are a union member, get a list of agents from the Screen Actors Guild or AFTRA. Start with the first agent and call to see their procedure for seeing new clients. Devote your time to calling every agent on the list. Take notes.

Send your resume and photo only to those agents you've decided can help you. Don't send cold connections. Make sure that the agent you like will, at least, consider your submission.

Find an audition for a show in Back Stage West. Win the audition. Do the show. Invite agents to whom you've submitted and leave comps for them. Ask the other actors in the show you've won who represents them and hustle those agents who may come to see their clients.

Be impatient and suffer. Be patient and work like anything and as in planting a garden, you may harvest a career in time.

How can you become an actor on Disney Channel?

Hi there,

The first thing that comes to mind after reading your question is, "Are you ready to audition for Disney?". The reason I ask is because there I have entertained an onslaught of questions recently by folks asking the same question. It seems that Disney is the place everyone wants to be.

Having said that, you know that the people already acting on Disney Channel are trained professionals. Are you? If so, then I have a suggestion for you. There are many actors who are very, very good, but don't get seen and don't get a chance to audition for the casting directors they really want to audition for, because they don't have the business skills they need to be successful. And so, their talent goes unnoticed. What a shame. Really. I have a friend who was like that for a long time and now she is beginning to come around.

Your number one priority should be getting some good, solid acting training. It's not just about being the right type, it's also, and more importantly about your acting skill. But make sure you have an opinion about what you are looking for in a school and in a teacher. Click here to see what some of your criteria could be.

In the long-term, and if you really want to be acting on Disney Channel, you will want to develop yourself, study the industry and study your acting craft.

Go and download a free, 28-page e-booklet about what it takes to become an actor. Just sign in and you can download it for free. You can get it here: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com

There is also information on how to get an agent at:

But getting an agent is only part of the deal and even if you get one, it doesn't mean that he'll send you out for all the auditions you want. In addition, if you do get one and you have had no training, you might get sent out a lot in the beginning and then, once casting directors for whom you audition see that you are not a trained actor, they will often kindly ask the agent not to send you to them to audition anymore. That happens.

I say this to let you know that before you get close to Disney, you will have a lot of work to do and a lot of base to build. That is unless you are a natural born, exceptional talent. Then maybe not.

So in summary, it is possible to get to Disney. It is. But you will have to position yourself for success. To do that you need to get started quickly and with purpose!

Good luck!

First, the US Disney Channel is Based in LA and have most auditions there so you would need to get an LA agent if you are very young you might be able to submit and get excepted with little experience otherwise you will need to work on building up a resume before submitting to agencies, as for acting coaches I would just google what you are looking for. I hope this helps a little.

Hon, as a client of a Talent Agency YOU do not determine where you want to work and what type of work you want to do. The Talent Agents are the professionals and they TELL you the actor, where you are best suited to work.

So if you want to work for Disney, forget it.
Actors do NOT tell the Agent where they want to work. Actors do what the Talent Agent tells them to do, the Agent is the Professional NOT the actor.

If not, there is little chance of you becoming a Disney actor, unless you were on the Mickey Mouse Club with Britney Spears. You need a LOT more experience as an actor.

First you need to get some professional headshots and build your resume. Agents don't like noobs. Second, go join your community theater or school theater, that's probably the best you can get unless you live in NY or LA. Third, go research the resolved question section because this question has been asked a billion times.

You need to get more expierience. Try doing community theatre before waking up one day and saying "I want to be an actress"
