I believe it is hard to beat the feeling of driving a BMW. A car that is not necessarily the fastest, but one with a great balance of sportiness and everyday practicallity.

The new Lexus IS is nice too, and certainly has enough power in the IS350. I've driven both the E46 330i and the IS350 on the same track for comparison. The Lexus was of course quicker (before BMW came out with the 335i), but felt a little light. Too bad the IS350 only have automatics and no manual transmission options.

What should the Lexus be called? "L-EX-US" is actually short for "Luxury EXport to the US". But if you are looking for something new, how about "Reliable Luxury Machine"?

I would say that anyone who states that their car is the best driving machine has too little experience to make such a statement. What kind of driving do you really do? What do you need the vehicle to do? NO ONE car can cover ALL the bases. BMW is one nice car. Lexus is one nice car. Drive them both, try different models. Each has it's own feel. I don't drive either,I could, but I have found my own "driving machine"

BMW is more sporty than Lexus. BMW has the M-Division and lexus right now has nothing on that.
