That's funny someone said the same thing about the Boston Tea Party just the other day.
I have seen that more than one family live in some of these large homes. I have also seen that people buy them with the adjustable rate loan and when the interest goes up then they have to sell, fast. Some people are even getting the interest only loans, not paying any principal, so that is not doing you any good either.

Some of these answers are so immature, this person has a point some houses are very very expensive hence not worth the money no matter what the supply and demand is yeah heard of the housing bubble only just a few years ago they was trying to give away houses and i often wonder how do people afford them if theyre not rich,
Also not everyone will make six figures by 30 what kind of bubble is that person living in

And just who are you going to revolt against, and protest against? The person who has enough money to afford those homes?
If what you can afford is a 1400 square foot home, then look for one. People do survive, with families, in that size home, you know.

They borrow the money, the theory is that they will always earn so much a year that they can afford the repayments, even if it is interest only. If nothing else capital appreciation will increase their wealth. So its a win/win and an understanding of how money should be used to maximum.

McDonalds pays $10 a hour. Most grown up are making 6 figures by the time they are 30.
What would you revolt against? Supply and demand. If you want the big house you have to do what the others are doing. Work hard and invest well.

I don't know how long you are working, $10.00 per hour, kids making on a summer job. Why don't you take some classes , learn something, get better job. Stop the jealousy, better improve your self, make more money.
P.S. I look in your profile, you are smart and educated person, who is working for travel agency for 30 years, so you are not making $10.00 per hour. Who did you put this question. I think is upsetting.

well, that is if you have loads of cash and have debt up to their eyeballs... But it never makes sense... I have the same problem here but I don't make nearly enough with two kids and a single income..
Go ahead and try but I'll doubt anyone will listen...

You're going to revolt because you're not very successful?
That's not exactly the same thing as revolting to protest unfair taxes.
