Yup you sure can - via a USB port. (try to get one that is powered through your USB port. some of them have their own power cable and are required to be plugged in to an outlet to work)

They are kinda handy. Its like a FRIGGIN HUGE flash drive.(kinda)

you can connect an external hard disk to any PC but the transfer rate will not be the same as an internal one ie it'll take longer read and write times

yeeah, whatever you want on that laptop can be virtually connected through USB, IEEE1394 Firewire, wireless, bluetooth, etc, depends on the connection that your laptop allows
