Coaching is a profession and reaquires specialised skills.
While India have great experienced players,we do not have skilled Coaches. That is the main reason why India is looking for foreign coach.

I agree with the first answer but there's another reason. Australia has been the best team in cricket for over 20 years and a big reason is their attitude (some like it, some don't, but they win!) So, by chosing a coach from Australia or South Africa (winning teams), the logic goges that you get a different "mind-set"...sort of like bringing in an outside person as CEO or Manager for a company that's not doing well rather than promoting someone from witihn becuase the "outsider" can be objective and bring in real change.

Politics my dear "thinker" politics . Unfortunately there is lot of politics involved in asian cricket affairs. Appointing a foreign coach is lucrative for higher ups of cricket boards as they find new ways to earn some extra money. Secondly we the asians are very impressed with white skin and consider them something out of the world otherwise there is no lack of quality coaches in our own countries. Likes of Javed Miandad, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastari, are all willing to serve their nation in their capacity but like general public our "super star" also have no respect for their country mates. So the cricket boards of these two countries are always in search of a "white" coach.
