You can tell the young kids but the best running back of all time is one of two men Hershel Walker from UGA 3 time all American. Or you have to go with Bo Jackson incredible.

Archie Griffin. Look how many consecutive 100 yard games he had. Only 2 time winner of the heisman trophy, and a class act all the way. As any buckeye fan will tell you, his biggest accomplishment was he never lost to michigan. Just because his pro career was below average doesn't mean he wasn't the best college back.

1. Barry Sanders & Emmit Smith were/are my favorites.
Hershel Walker & Archie Griffin were probably the best though. I still belive if Barry would have stayed he would be the NFL All-time rushing leader.

Not even close - Barry Sanders scored like 38 touchdowns in his JUNIOR year. When Sanders was a sophomore and sitting behind the great Thurman Thomas, they were playing OU. Coach Barry Switzer of the Sooners told his coaches that he hoped Thomas didn't get hurt because that kid behind him is twice as good!
