I don't like baby contests but I also cannot imagine why some mothers enter their kids..their baby is obviously NOT cute or pretty. What's up?

I don't think just my baby is gorgeous because he's a blue eyed blonde haired beauty. But I think that all babies are beautiful in their own way. I think baby contest are stupid and I'm glad that your not into that sort of thing. But everyone has different views on what makes a beautiful baby. Yours may be different from the other people who attend the baby contests. I've seen babies that weren't quite cute that the parents simply adore. But I would not want to be the parent that entered their child in a contest thinking they were beautiful to have you tell them their not. That's why they don't just put any tom, dick, and harry as a judge.

And the initial infatuation of having a baby makes this cliche an even stronger reality.
I know when my niece and my daughter were both babies, I thought they could win every cover contest or baby pagent imaginable. They're 6 &4 yrs old now, and when I look at their baby pictures I think "yeah they're beautiful babies, even more beautiful in my heart, but I'm not so sure about those magazine covers!"

I agree. There are so many ugly babies out there! Fortunately, I've been blessed with an angel! I just entered her in a contest and I know she is going to WIN!!!

I can't say that all parents believe their children are beautiful, or at least not in the first few minutes and hours of life, but I suspect that by the time a child reaches baby pageant age most parents have 'rose colored glasses' on when it comes to their child.
While they may not see their child as being model gorgeous, perhaps they see some talent that you might not recognize from a picture alone, and thus why they enter the child.

There was a guy on here yesterday telling us his baby was ugly.....I just can't believe that. Love is blind. If you love your baby of course HE or SHE is beautiful...the most beautiful.
p.s. My son is SO BEAUTIFUL! ;)

when my son was born he was the most beautiful baby in the world. But now, I look back at his baby pics and think he looked a little weird!!! He got much prettier as a toddler/child. NOw he's mr. GQ!!!
