Nope, they hold a place in history for being young and talented. We love them and wonder what WOULD'VE happened. If they grow up they become "Fat Elvis" and that's just gross

At least Jimi Hendrix died accidentally. Cobain was just throwing a tantrum.

People who listened to the Stones and McCartney in their day do not think they are a joke.

Good question. I really don't know. We saw Kurt and Jimi at the peak of their brilliance and that's where we were left with them. I'd assume they'd still be great musicians but maybe some of the flare would continue to die out over time.

I think artist like Hendrix, cobain, Jim Morrison who die in the peak of their careers are looked at much higher than those who still churn out music in there 60's because there is always the "what would have been" factor.

The whole idea of "What would they have done had then been alive today?" is interesting but I wouldn't say that we look more favorably on those who've died young.

As a person who is probably going to grow up to be heavily involved in biology I actually look down upon musicians who've died young because of things they could've controled. One of the most basic themes of biology is Darwin's theory of survival, "Survival of the Fittest". People who've died young from things like emotional problems or ODs (your 2 given examples right there) aren't considered part of that "fittest" category. Their instability and problems lead to their deaths and therefore those genetic patterns that drove them to those decisions can't be passed on and therefore they, in theory, will be forgotten by society.

But in terms of people who've died young I absolutely feel sorry for them. Artists like Selena were killed without their consent or ability to control their own fate is just horrible, for a person who is one of the lowest on the fittest scale to take down a member of the fittest is one of the worst things that could happen for society. Artists like her will be remembered until the end of society as we know it and we will always ponder what they would've done and look upon events like that as things that never should've happened.

Please don't speak for me, sir. I love many types of music and yes, some of the musicians/singers have died of various causes way before their time.

I still love Rick Nelson. I know that false rumours went around saying the fire in the plane crash that killed him "may" have been cocaine use among himself and the passengers.

Do I "care" about "why" he died? I still love Rick Nelson.

There are many others as well...

If by "we" you mean the people of this generation you are sadly mistaken. I surly did not grant you authority to speak for me. If by “we” you mean you, yourself and any other character that may reside within your mind, then you are entitled to your opinion.
