In the late 18th century two parties formed, the federalists and the democratic-republicans. The democratic-republican party split in 1825, and gave way to the democrats. The Republicans were founded in 1854 by people who opposed slavery. The Democrats believe in a strong central government, while republicans believe in a week central government. Conservatives stand for lower taxes, capitalism, and anti-abortion. The democrats stand for high taxes, welfare, pro-choice, etc. I personally am a Republican and believe in the importance of working hard.

Republicans are not mean spirited. we just deal with what is real. you think Democrats are thoughtful because they come up with optimistic and unrealistic goals like universal healthcare. hahaha.

I see both sides as acting in errant ways and putting each other down.
Often when someone doesn't have something or thought-provoking to say, then they use hapless bumper sticker slogans to bash the other side.
That's completely pointless.
