I'm not sure.

The casual divorce has had the greatest negative effect on the institution of marriage, in my opinion.

Not that I want to go back to the era when women put up with abusive marriages just to avoid the stigma of divorce!

If you allow marriage to no longer be defined as a union between a man and a women, and make a a union of two people of any gender. The next thing you know, bigamists will come forward and say they have loving relationship with two women. Since we allowed the definition of marriage to be redefined once, how can we say that a marriage between three people is 'wrong.' It will simply become another alternative lifestyle and we will have little choice but to make bigamy legal. After that, who knows, people may want to marry animals or inanimate objects and who are we to say they cannot have a loving relationship with their dog.

The line has to be draw someone. The most logical place is to say the marriage is between a man and a women (for the purpose of creating children). If you allow the definition of marriage to be redefined once, it will be redefined over and over again.
