Commitment doesn't have to have pitfalls or be a bad thing. When you find the right person commitment will feel right and not like you are on a leash. Sleeping around can only satisfy part of your needs as a person, unless you are extremely shallow & I don't think that's the case. I think many people have a negative association with commitment due to bad relationships that have made them feel trapped rather than having a partnership with someone. Like I said, from my experience, once you find the right person, commitment actually deepens your relationship & makes it even better. I think that's how it should feel. It's great to share your life with a person you trust completely & know will be there through thick & thin.

I've personally always been scared of commitment; the fright of where will I be if he leaves me, how will I deal with this loss, the fact that he left me for another woman or that I just wasn't good enough, blaming myself for everything. I recently had a talk with one of my older friends who had just come out of a relationship and I learnt that mistakes are alright, it's just life, one guy or one girl doesn't prove that you're not deserving of someone's love, of someone's time, that you can provide the same back and that sometimes it's okay to let go. So, I'm going to choose dealing with the pitfalls commitment brings.

With the STD rate what it is today you are asking that question? No one except the two in a long term monogamous committed relationship are protected. Perhaps you need to get a bit older before you take on anyone or anything more, and then only after a great deal of thought.

Sleeping around is the easiest thing to do, right? This means you invest nothing, so you get nothing back. Some people are happy with this (especially before 30) and that's cool. In a relationship you invest emotionally, which means that you may get nothing OR you may get everything. It's a risk.

The issue here is that "everything" cannot be compared to "nothing". It's a choice between safety and risk, between emotional fear and real happiness.

Either is fine, as long as the person is happy. And some people are happy with sleeping around - with no strings attach.

Thats tough....but sleeping around only causes problems, and being in a relationship is hard work. Accomplish everything you want in life before you get into a relationship so you wont regret what you didnt do in life because someone was holding you back (ex. other women, getting a degree, traveling, not having to check in,.......)

I dont know what you would prefure But Hey if your single then you have alott of time let on your hands...You dont have to be lonly Because there are girls everywhere....But if your ready to pay bills 2xs more then what your paying then i would stick with the single life but if i found someone that would Love me and that i loved them back then i would go either way....but he would have to be the right one for me and that would devorse me ....but its your choice.....no one can make it for you....Write back....
