One man or woman can change the world by changing themselves.
Point to someone else to begin the change and you will see 3 fingers pointing back at yourself.

I think the first answer summed it up best. A single man can change the world if his words or actions are profound enough and touch enough people, and affect enough lives. On the positive side, Gandhi and Siddhartha Buddha changed the world by giving people a new perspective on how to deal with things. Instead of religious crap, Buddha supported the idea of inner spirituality which was a new concept for people to deal with. Gandhi preached peace in a world filled with war and inspired people to be gentle. On the negative side, Hitler preached a powerful message about a perfect face, and that exterminating the inferior races could leave the world for the race's taking, more or less. Germany wanted an empire and he preached of an Aryan society which dominated the world, probably thinking and referring to Atlantis a great deal (a very powerful nation to follow in the footsteps of, by legend). His way of achieving that message was brutal, but he inspired enough people to agree. One man can change the world when everyone is following one direction and he goes another. You'll find a lot of people will sidestep and follow him to be a part of that revolution.

How do you change the world.
The world was changed recently by Bill Gates and Paul Allen as you are I am sure aware. That was product driven and it changed everything from telephonic communication to how information is disseminated.
People like Mother Teresa are said to have changed the world, but I don´t believe even with all her good works that she actually changed the world.
If you want to change the world in a political or message sense, you should think well what your desired goal is...map out a strategy as to how to accomplish that goal...and then stay committed, focused and incorporate as many people as you can.
Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.

There really is no rhyme or reason to it. Some people call it luck, but I say there is no such thing as luck; it is skill meeting opportunity.
Famous people who have changed history
Moses
Aristotle
Alexander the Great
Julius Caesar
Jesus Christ
Charlemagne
Mohammad
The list can go on.
It's all skill meeting opportunity. The more skill, the larger the impact on history. And on those rare golden opportunities that only come along once in an age, the proper application of the correct amount of skill can have unprescedented results.

There are a lot of answers which say have a dream and follow it, but...
Realistically, it does not matter what the subject is as long as you have the ability to sway others to think like you, whether the ideas are good or bad.
That's how Gandhi, Hitler, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha and the others stated in the answers above did it.
Just hope that those who arise in the future are benevolent.

yeah, one man CAN change the world (Hitler ring any bells???). I think using the power of speech, like hitler did, to play with peoples emotions definately works, ummmm... and using the publics misfourtune in their favour works as well (sorry to keep bringing him up, but he's a good example, well, not good, you know what i mean!!) like Hitler did with the great depression of 1929. Also, being ruthless...
I think they're the main way's one person can change the world.

Simple, fight for what you believe in and spread it to your peers. And of course one man or WOMAN can change the world, even if it's only a little at a time...

Well good for you that you believe that.
i and lots of others dont think so,however much we believe
and acknowledge the continuing works of others
in reducing poverty,war,suffering,upholding good-but-faulty
law-and-Order,population control,energy usage(thus helping
the environment/reducing global warming.
And all the other things that not only bring-people-together
(and something, which shamefully, our great religions dont
seem to be doing much of!) but is our duty as human beings;
And i shouldn't need to say again but i think i need-to; As
sentient and peaceful beings who live in this wonderful
universe, which is as we know, virtually Empty and extremely
hostile to almost all life forms.

Always speak your mind about what you believe in. Always be honest and sincere in your actions. Help others when they need help and you are able to offer assistance, and accept it equally from them. Do no harm, fix what you break, leave it like you found it, and comfort a crying child. It is hard for a common person like myself to do much more than that.

Speak and be heard by enough people and you will change the world. Or, (not really trying to quote Tupac) spark the brain that will change the world.
