bingo! you just put them in a dilemma. if they say they believe in the multiverse or time travel you pounce back by saying that how could they rely on pure faith when it comes to other unproven concepts but deny the same amenity when applied to the concept of a first cause. and if they deny believing in a multiverse or time travel because they do not have enough proof then you argue that they, too, do not have enough proof that these concepts are unreal. and that applies to the god-concept too. they dont have enough proof a god doesnt exist

Actually, a lot of atheists deny the possibility of time travel or a multiverse. I don't believe either is possible, since traveling 'time' is actually, in essence, traveling 'events', since that's what time is (a measurement of events). The reason you ask the question is because you don't seem to understand what atheists are, really. I've never met an atheist, myself, that believed either was possible, though I'm sure some do. Then again, some religious people think it's possible too, so that's not an atheist trait. The main reason I find atheists don't believe in God is because God is omnipotent and to us that's scientifically impossible (as far as the largest flaw of religion).

It's NOT hard for me to accept the CONCEPTS of God, time travel or a multiverse, because I can think abstractly. But my BELIEF in them is based on the evidence shown to me and my own observations of the world. Due to the evidence and my observations, I have come to the conclusion God does not exist.
As for the multiverse and time travel, I'm kind of agnostic on both points for now.

As an Agnostic..not an Atheist..I accept fact over beliefs that others try to put over on me. I can't believe the earth was created in 7 days.....when there's scientific proof that it's millions of years old. If Adam and Eve were the first people on earth why didn't they just kill that snake and prevent what we have now? I don't know what multiverse means or I would address it. Look out your window...the universe is still expanding. We have to grow with it.

The ambiguous concepts will remain theoretical until proven otherwise. The god concept has already been proven to be the construct of primititve barbarians trying to explain the unknown universe around them. In fact, nueroscientists have already discovered what they're terming the 'god-gene.' Something located in the limbic system of all human brains, that last remnant of our reptillian past...

let me turn it around so you can understand what your question means to an atheist.
there is a sect of Christianity that believes that all modern medicine is a sin, because it goes against god's will. The lightning rod was originally opposed by Christians because it was thought that lightning was god's divine punishment. There was a movement to ban the use of anesthesia for women in labor, because labor pains was God's punishment to Eve. So how is it that you can call Christianity friendly to science when you believe things like this?
See how unfair that question was? You're forcing us to apologize for the actions of an eccentric few. There is no reason for us to have to explain them, when you don't need to answer to the more eccentric elements of Christianity (Heck, Charles Manson once styled himself as the ressurected Jesus Christ. How's that for way out in left field?)
Am I making sense, here?

I'm not atheists and my opinion is that it's not a compulsory to believe in god if thats so, then thats not even a god in the first place. It's more like a religion. I have a friend who don't believe in god but they he believes some Aliens are controlling our world. Now I don't think he's a atheist just becoz he doesn't believe in god it's just that he's world makes sense that way. People are more happy if they feel like home nomatter where they are. And there are lots of examples out there. Who believes in Spirits and nature but doesn't have a concept of god himself. Peace.

it's not hard, we just believe different things, though, i don't believe in multiverses (???) and time travel, lol! people all have their own reasons for not believing/believing in God, it's just one of those things really! =]

Actually, a multiverse is impossible, for purely semantic reasons. Universe, if broken down, means "all that is". You can't have multiple all-that-is's.
More likely than not, what we think is all that is likely is not all that is. Follow me?

ahh, just like only atheists commit crimes I suppose, only atheists believe in time travel!! how very provincial. here's an idea, open a book or read an article that doesn't depend upon your ignorance to be accepted.
