Yes, maybe it can help them improve. However, I would be very polite about it.
I'd always rather know I have bad breath/something in my teeth, than to walk around with it all day. Being embarrassed in front of one person is better than infecting all the others I'd interact with.

Not a chance. I'm a teacher, and if a student has a hygiene problem then I send them to the nurse.
I'm not one for confrontation, or one for hurting someone's feelings. I'd tell them that a family member has "finally" agreed to do the job, and being family, you must go with him or her.

I wouldn't be rude about it, and it will hurt their feelings no matter what, but I would let them know that my first impression on them was not great due to their personal hygiene.
They need to know this because it could help them in the future. I know it may not be your concern what they do in the future, but it would be a nice gesture to point them in the right direction.

I'd find a way to tell them....like giving them some critism. Let them in on maybe why they aren't getting as many jobs as they could....try my best to get it across the right way. It would be for their benifit to know....I might not say that was the reason I didn't hire just....hint he needs to clean up.

i wouldn't tell him the truth...but i'll alert him about the personal hygiene problem....
never relating it with the work....i guess if i just alert him, he might know the reason why i didn't take him in the first place without me having to tell him just straight and coldly like that

I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, but depending on how bad they were, maybe it needs to be brought to their attention. Would you want to eat at a restaurant if he was the cook? People's appearance's can reflect in their job performance

NO. I would not tell them. Most contractor don't know why they don't get some work. If the guy looks like a serial killer or a pansy, it doesn't matter. You decide who works on your property and you don't have to feel obliged to explain yourself.

Yes, I am polite but I am always honest. But then again you may not smell them over the smell of the wet paint.

Honesty is always the best policy, I would tell him about his problem , but tactfully. Good luck with the decorating.
