Definitely something more ,it's a day to celebrate the US's independence from England and the beginning of their own independent country. It's a celebration of the constitution including its preamble as well as the men who wrote and signed it as the Constitution became an example for other countries as to what to aspire to.
And btw I am not an American but a Canadian.
Happy fourth each and every one of you.

Good question...and the same for Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. It seems to be an age issue. When I was a kid, it was about the day off and w/e. When I was a child, I thought like a child, and spoke like a child..I saw in a glass dimly, but now.. Face to Face..as an adult, I am affected by the heroism and bravery of our soldiers, so bbq or not, PRAISE GOD for ALL of you, and ALL of the ones past.

It's called celebrating our Independence . We do that with those we love . Many times that includes kicking back with family and friends and the back yard grill .

It's really about celebrating our nation's independence & appreciating the sacrifices of those who protect our freedom.
The BBQs are nice, as long as we remember what we're really celebrating.
