my 88 ford ranger v6 2wd will not start. i checked for fuel.its getting fuel. i check for spark. no spark. i replaced ignition module, and ignition coil.cap and rotor. they all were original.it started right up.i drove it the 5 miles home and it died in the drive way. again , no spark. i came out later that day and it started, but only ran for about 2 minutes.it does start periodically, and it runs for different amounts of time each time, but it always dies sooner or later.

You dont have enough power to make a spark look at the battery and then change out the pugs and wires it should do the trick.

Did you buy a quality ignition module or a cheap off brand one. I'd go to the ford dealer and buy one and be sure to use the tube of dielectric grease that comes with it.

When you replaced the ignition module, did you use the white grease looking stuff under it to help disipate the heat at the mounting surface?

It may need to be replaced again.

sure sounds like ignition module, but you already replaced that so maybe replace the stator pickup inside the distributor.

could be a few things . but starting with the obvious, have you changed the coil lead and plug leads?
they could be deteriorated which will cause intermittent ignition probs.
after that could be an immobiliser fault?
general electrical prob?
