I am looking to make an online encyclopedia for a group of friends of mine. We are writers and there are some facts and history that we are always asking about. This would make our lives easier if we had somewhere to just go look it up ourselves.
I need to make it easy to search and I would like to have it where anyone can add to it, maybe with a password or such. Does anyone know of a link to a tutorial or something that would help me in my research on how to do this?

i guess what you want is a wiki.

You can use services like PBwiki to create and collaborate through your own wiki.

You are describing Wikipedia. They have the same setup and users can add and edit the information.

make your own wiki or just use wikipedia.
