I just purchased a synaps moniter- i dont care if its crappy and i dont want any rude comments. I just wanted to know if there is something that can make the screen not look so wide and not make people look so fat?

Make sure that the Screen resolution under the Settings tab of Display Properties is set to the native resolution of the monitor.
Do not look at pictures in a maximized window as this can force the picture to scale to the aspect ratio of the screen rather than display the picture properly.

NOT HERE TO BE RUDE BUT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM,I WOULD TAKE IT BACK ,PEOPLE SHOULDNT LOOK FAT, JUST BOUGHT TWO NEW 19 INCH MONITERS AND THEY WORK PERFECT.
