not firing when i checked the sparkplug;
new sparkplug, new air filter, new gas filter, new battery, good gas/oil.

You didn't say if the motor is trying to turn over, and just not starting, or if all you are getting is a clicking sound and the motor is not trying to turn over.

If it is trying to turn over:

Also check the fuel hose.

If they are old and starting to dry rot, some times when they are drawing fuel, they just pinch shut.

Check the battery connections and starter connections and make sure they are not corroded.

If all you getting is clicking, check your wiring.

A volt/ohm meter will come in handy.

Bad seat switch?
It shuts off the engine spark for safety reasons.

Or, bad armature. (magneto\coil)

your coil or magnito is shot unless your tractor has fuses and if it does check them for a burnt out one.

as I dont know the year and model F/I or carb did you try and jump start this thing if so and its F/I you just smoked a computer
