I drive my Van .
I drive @100 miles each way to work and it takes 1.5 hours to work and 1.75 - 2 hours home. I travel up or down 4 motorways, through 1 tunnel and numerous 'A' Roads in each direction.
Since November I have driven 24,670 miles (I have just checked) to and from work, with an 8 hour working day in the middle.

I wake up, throw on a robe, and stroll downstairs to my office. About 5 times a year I have to take a plane to my office, but for the most part, I dont go anywhere to work.
Unless your job is something like in retail sales or something that requires you to have "proxmitiy" exposure to someone, "driving to work" is a thing of the past. More and more companies are starting to endear "working from home" policies..
The last 4 companies I have worked for do..
It takes me 5 minutes to "get to work" ie..the 5 minutes it takes me to make my morning cup of coffee :D

I only live three miles from my job. I drive, I take the bus, I ride my bike, and sometimes I walk. Do you live in a major metropolitan area where they have car pool lanes? You might try sharing the ride.
You also might try checking out buses/commuter trains. You probably won't shorten your commute, but it might be more pleasant to be able to sit and read and let someone else do the driving.
Any chance of finding a place to live closer to work, or a job closer to home?

I use my car, too. I enjoy and preer the comfort of it, some peace and quiet and the music that I like. Much better than any bus, but much costlier as well. I find it is worth it, but then I'm only 25 min by car away from my job.

Auto....in Northeast Ohio, the public transportation system is a joke, unless you are in downtown Cleveland, which discourages people from saving the wear and tear on their cars.

I use three diferent ones.
I park my car out of town, then I catch the bus to the centre. When I have finished work I walk back to the out of town car park, then drive home the rest of the way.

I used to ride a bike but I''m obliged to drive my car now unfortunately. (I take my son to school first then go to work in another suburb - impossible to do by public transport in less than 3 hours!)
