Hi. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about five months now. On Sunday afternoon I took an ovulation test and it read postive. Out of curiousity I took it again Wednesday morning and it read positive again. My understanding is that you should have an LH surge for 24-36 hours. Why would I still be getting a positive reading?

Sometimes the the LH surge happens, but then the egg is not released, so there is another surge as your body tries again. If this continues to happens then you need to see your doctor because this is a sign of a problem and can cause fertility issues. Also, if you are on medications such as Clomid, this can cause an early positive result as well. But for right now don't worry, and just keep on trying. Good luck.

After having two children my husband and I decided we wanted a boy. So, he ejaculated inside me for the first time in four years, so I thought I would get pregnant for sure. That's how it was the other two times.

I did everything you are doing with charts, and tests, and others opinions, finally It was stressing me out so bad, I said I'm done trying. I just can't get pregnant anymore. So we had sex as usual instead of the all day everyday trying to conceive. I gave up on trying.

That month (which would have been the fifth month of trying) I didn't get my period... So I took a test, and was blown away when it came out positive! I was so surprised!

When we didn't try, is when it happened. Maybe you should try it, and see what happens. Even if just for one month. You never know!!

We ended up with yet another girl!! Three total, so I am definitely done! I know how you feel, and what you are going through. If there isn't a medical reason, you will get pregnant!

Good luck!! Post your good news when it happens, I love to say " I told you so"!! ;)

In my experience those ovulation tests are not entirely accurate. We bought a clearblue one and it never once showed I was ovulating (and we tried several times) yet now I am 23 weeks pregnant! Sometimes the natural ways of showing your ovulating are much better!

Slow down and relax. Don't try so hard. It'll happen when your calm and not stressing so much. That's what happened to me and my husband after trying for a whole year.

every woman is different, with different chemistry in her system. i know a woman who didn't start menstruating until she was 17 years old. it's my belief that conception will occur when ur not trying so hard. u'll get pregnant when ur supposed to so just relax and let life take it's course.
