Sir Henry Morton Stanley, a correspondent for the New York Herald found Dr Livingston, although he was neither lost nor presumed dead. Explorers do tend to wander about a bit; it's like a work skill.

It was Henry Morton Stanley of The New York Herald, who found Livingstone and greeted him with famous words “Doctor Livingstone, I presume.”

Stanley telegraphed his editor whose name was Gordon Bennett. He wrote “Gordon Bennett, I have found Livingstone” and so “Gordon Bennett" has become a expression of surprise, even a swear word.

Newspaper reporter, Henry Morton Stanley found Doctor David Livingstone, - alive, and well, - at "UJIJI", on the shores of Lake TANGANYIKA, in what is, today, - I think, - the African nation of TANZANIA!

Hence, the now-famous phrase "DOCTOR LIVINGSTONE, - I PRESUME?!"

But, "HENRY MORTON STANLEY" was NOT the name, that the man was BORN with! At BIRTH, - on 28 JANUARY, 1841, in DENBIGH, North WALES, - he was called "JOHN ROWLANDS"

Henry Morton Stanley, DIED, in 1841!
