Yes. They have a better power base to work from. If they are not at peace with themselves, at least they don't have poverty nipping at their heels. It's better to be unhappy and wealthy than unhappy and poor.

all the things you mention can actually make people less confidant, and less at peace. witness paris hilton, demi moore, david hasselhof, and many others. that said, the rich and famous among us dont have any more problems than the less fortunate, but the problems they have are much larger, witness bill gates, steve jobs, and steve wozniek as examples. inner peace and confidence come from with in.

My boss, a doctor, who is not really attractive, but not disgusting either, can get any woman he wants because of his wealth and status.
He has a large house with lots of cars. And a very high opinion of himself.
But, guess what? Everyday he complains about how he hates work, hates this, hates that, hates his mother.
He doesn't seem too happy to me.
I can only conclude that money does not buy happiness.

Not on average. Remember, the more you have, the more responsibility it is to maintain it.

Money: you have to maintain your net worth by careful spending and saving/investing (for many men, this is where their net worth is)

Great looks:you have to maintain your beauty with facelifts and beauty products(for many women this is where their 'net worth' is)

Clothes and property: see money

The key to confidence is knowledge and control of your life and assets.

The key to peace is contentment in what you have.
