And were you as APPALLED as I was? This show is an abomination. These are CHILDREN who need to be motivated in a positive manner, WITHOUT ridicule. These children are being tormented not only by an unfeeling trainer ("I knew they'd be FAT, but not THAT FAT!"), but by their parents as well. In order to lose weight, a person needs to be taught how to eat right while being positively motivated. People can't go from zero exercise to full-throttle simply because it makes "good" tv. Your thoughts?

Let's remember that these are CHILDREN, people! They can't be scared into losing weight. There are better ways. And yes, he did ridicule them. Were you watching the same show that I was?

"Athletes are often trained by intimidating and insulting methods."

THESE ARE OVERWEIGHT CHILDREN, NOT ATHLETES! What might work for Shaq is not going to work with these kids.

Athletes are often trained by intimidating and insulting methods. This may be what Shaq knows works for him. He is just passing on what he knows. At least he is trying something. It is possible that the producers are airing scenes for shock value. At any rate, this problem is so bad and so urgent, lets not let anyone's 'feelings' get in the way of addressing this life and death issue just yet...

Last night was 6 weeks into the kids program. They weren't at zero, they should have been further than they were, but that was their own laziness. They have been taught what to do. The only thing I thought was sad was that the parents weren't participating. Some of the parents are huge. I think the show is awesome.

I think it's about time someone started a wake up call. Parents are going to start outliving their children because of the high number of childhood obesity cases. I didn't see any ridicule, and the trainer calls a spade a spade.

He was not ridiculing them .... he was pushing them. He said in the beginning that he was not there to be their friend, because a friend would just tell them that they look alright and the way they are eating is okay,

The trainer also told them that they could do the exercises, whereas in a gym class, their classmates would convince them that they couldn't.

I think it's the only way to get them to make a change is all. They have to be pushed or it's not gonna happen.
