Look back from the present and think, in your opinion what bands and SOLO acts in the POP/ROCK genre are or have been OVER-HYPED?
That doesn't mean they are bad, just that they were made a bigger deal out of than they actually were, that they were give far too much credit, press and praise.

Nirvana,they got alot of credit for killing hair metal as its now called but it had died years before and has since given way to endless whiney college rock blandness

Love My Chemical Romance And Everything But Them, There On All Music Channels All The Time Which Ruins It Because They Become Stale Fast And The 'EMO' Thing. There Brilliant But Better When All The Real Fans Liked Them, Not Because Of How Gerard Way Looks Like And Because Of The Emo Label.

everything after 1980. the music biz changed so much once the all music video chanells came on board.. now everything is visual at the expense of the sound. Queen was a great rock band but not pretty like duran duran so guess whose video got more airtime. and so it has been since then til today when the who's who of music looks like it would be more at home in porn

Avril Lavigne. - Now. Like, her new CD. On how much she's changed. I mean...Yeah, alot of people don't like it, -- I happen too. But there's too much stuff involved with her. Er, yeah...
Green Day - Favorite band...But when Blvd. Of Broken Dreams came out...They were EVERYWHERE. And what of their old CD's!? They were AWESOME. And they got...So little credit I say for the older one's.
Justin Timberlake - COME ON. He SUCKS. That's why. :]
Fall Out Boy - OOH PETE WENTZ!!! That's all it's about anymore with them. I find that one of the MAIN reasons that they are popular! I mean... The music is OKAY, but it's not all that great.
My Chemical Romance - Gerard's voice is so...Cruddy and everyone loves it. It's so annoying. They're everywhere. I hate it. The music sucks. Like the guy with Moby, "MCR had alotta smoke, but no fire.

KISS
Elvis was billed as the "King of Rock" but he hated his rock carer. He would rather have been singing country or gospel
KISS is hailed as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. I would just like to point out that they sold out and did a disco album. That is very non-metal.
And they both suck. AND I STILL HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

The White Stripes - I like them, but I they certainly don't measure up to all the hype.
Franz Ferdinand - bland sounding...I hear nothing special about them.
Ladytron - not so much these days but when they first came out.
