I heard that the ACLU used to stand for the priciples of the Bill of Rights. Whether a case was controversial or unpopular, they stood on principle; i.e. defending "Street preachers" or the KKK. They were a necessary evil.
Today, that principle is dead. Two recent cases where the ACLU took opposite sides of the same issue highlight the dearth of principle in that organization. The first was a public-school valedictorian whose graduation speech was censored by the school because it was entitled "My American Jihad." The ACLU took the moslem's side, arguing that schools CANNOT censor free speech.
The second was a public-school valedictorian whose graduation speech was censored by the school because it included mentioning Jesus as one of many positive influences in her life. This time the ACLU took the school's side arguing that schools CAN censor free speech.
The charade of nonpartisanship has been abandoned by this morally bankrupt legal-terror group.

Supposedly they are fighters of citizens civil rights. But they tend to take on liberal leaning cases. They like to throw fits if a city has a cross up on public property, the 10 Commandments posted in a court house etc. They claim it's a separation of church and state but it's not. They RARELY come out in favor of a Christian cause. They helped the case of the father in CA who wanted to get "under God" removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. They are also great defenders of gay rights etc. If it's liberal they are for it.

The ACLU is an organization that uses extortion on small communities that want to keep Christianity as part of their identity. They come in a file lawsuits against them with the hope that these communities will settle out of court rather than incur all the legals costs to fight them.
