i spend my time between the northwest, the southwest and the south. idaho, montana, california, new mexico, texas, and louisiana...and all points in between these fine states. got a big family. i'll be in idaho this 4th, and i am up in the woods, and i do believe they are sold legally here , but strangely enough i have not even paid it much mind. i have been thinking of more interesting things. and what a fire work show that's gonna be. i 'll go where i have to go if it is important to me. but yep, we got 'em on the free market here, unless i have lost my mind somewhere and i am thinking in other places.

I Live in Georgia Which Only Allows Sparkle Type Fireworks and that has only been for about 3 or 4 years now.
The Crazy Part is that every other state on Our Border, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and South Carolina DO Allow all of the other exploding fire works.
I've been known to cross the border :-s

I live in Iowa, and fireworks are illegal here. We have to sneak down to Missouri every year to buy fireworks. we live out in the country, so no one ever calls the police, cause are neighbors are usually at the party we're having anyway, lol. Good question, take care.

In Wisconsin we have firework stands littering all the major highways. They become legal when you purchase a lame little $1.50 permit.

I'm in Michigan. The sale of fireworks is illegal. No, I don't go somewhere else to buy them. I believe that fireworks displays should be left to the professionals only.

Just moved to Canada from New York. And it was not legal to purchase or sell fireworks in New York. We used to go to Pennsylvania to get them. In Canada, at least where I am, the sell them all over.

NY state doesn't allow fireworks at all, by armatures. The displays are closely monitored, and operated by professional, licensed personnel. There are sparklers for sale, that's about it.
