I need a topic for a paper. It needs to be about a person or group that has tried to change something for the better. Even if they didn't succeed. It needs to be a current topic. Any suggestions are appreciated. It is for a college writing class

Al gores, global warming is too broad a topic, its funny you picked that because it was the example used in class, about how there is soooo much info on it. lol...I need a more narrow topic.thanks..

Here's some ideas:
*Head Start program is a lot of people trying to improve education outcomes mostly for low income children and families

*U.S. troops are trying to improve life in an oppressed country. Right or wrong, our servicemen and women deserve a great deal of credit for trying to improve life for the common people in Iraq

*Billy Graham. Again, right or wrong, he has tried to improve life for large numbers of people by bringing them hope, love, and peace.

*Habitat for Humanity tries to improve living conditions for low income Americans daily by building homes for families who might otherwise be unable to afford them.

*NYPD tried even to the point of sacrificing their own lives, to bring people out of the World Trade Center alive.

*Mother Theresa tried to improve the lives of the destitute on a daily basis throughout her life.

Some of these are pretty broad. Maybe you could research a particular individual, such as the head of the Head Start program, a particular member of the NYPD, a top organizer of the Habit for Humanity program, or maybe you know a serviceman or woman in Iraq who has especially strong feelings about what they are doing there.
