I am looking at a laptop with one but have never heard of them until now. Do you have any thought or experiences with them?

Not quite as good as intel but will do the job and are priced much lower.

The AMD Turion is a fine processor and may handle basic computing task when paired with Windows XP.

Though you may want to look for a AMD X2 or even a Pentium Core 2 Duo for Vista based notebooks.

For a laptop processor, get a Intel Core 2 Duo. AMD processors heat up very quickly inside a laptop. Intel for laptop. AMD for Desktop.

inexpensive compare to intel. it runs fast but the bad thing is it will be very HOT (high temp.) after running a game or graphic design program. for me, i rather AMD processor to Intel's.
but for a laptop, i rather go for intel. b/c heating may crap the laptop.

Slightly better than Core Duo (Yonah2/ 32 bit only) but Core2 Duo (Conroe) is still the best.

There good for gaming and i love it more than intel.
