To the naked eye we can see a couple of thousand stars without the aid of a telescope, in the known universe there is an estimated 50 billion galaxies in which each galaxy contains on average 100 billion stars that is 5000 000 000 000 (5 thousand billion stars) in the known universe and to think there are probably lots more. Again putting things in perspective most stars in the universe are a lot bigger than the sun and our sun is 1000 times larger than earth, the biggest star in our galaxy is betel guise which is so large if it were placed at our suns current position it would engulf Jupiter, it is believed to be 1500 times the diameter of our sun
