actually you do NOT need any software to help maintaining your computer clean. Go to control panel ---> User Account, then add a new account (or Guest account) without setting a password. then you setup a password on your own account as an admin. that's the easiest way to block out somebody that you don't like them to add new things into your computer. hope this helps.

Well you can try creating accounts for those other people that use the computer and set them as regular users and not administrators. That function should prevent them from doing things. You can also set permissions for the users, specifying what they can and cant do. If you have XP just go to help and support and search for USER POLICY and see what you find there that can help you.

Create a guest account in Windows with limited (non-administrator) rights for the others.

But the best solution is to password protect YOUR account and treat YOUR computer as YOUR PERSONAL computer and never let anyone else use it. Ever. That is way they are called PCs!

Simply log on as the administrator, and using the user profiles, set up how much access the other users have to installation rights.

If you're not the administrator, you can report the other users to the IT department, and see if that gets you anywhere.
