Schiphol is smaller than London Heathrow, Paris or Frankfurt. But then comes Schiphol. (measured by the number of passengers). Both airports in London together have the most passengers (113.693.175) in Northwestern Europe, Then comes Paris (70.677.473), Frankfurt (48.351.664) and then Amsterdam Schiphol (39.960.400). Measures in tons of freight London is just a little bit bigger than Paris and Frankfurt.

I would say it is a mid-sized airport.
There is one terminal (in fact there are two but they are connected.)
5 runways, one at 15 minutes taxi time, but the others much nearer.
A good selection of shops, in the open to visitor area as well as in the tax-free zone.
Several hotels and restaurants.
