Sweetpea. The sky in MY world is the same color as the sky in Katrina. Cloudy. Your President has an umbrella the rest of us don't share.

M.Mcnulty, I am very open to reason and discussion. Do you have anything that would support a new theory on this administration? If so, I'm waiting. Don't make me wait too long though, I'm working on an Obama or Hillary victory salute!

Really now, I think this question is beneath you. I often find your questions insightful, entertaining and well thought out, but this one doesn't pass the smell test. Were there mistakes related to Katrina? Absolutely! Are they all the fault of the Federal government? Absolutely not! When you look at Katrina there were a series of breakdowns beginning at the local level and culminating at the federal, but no one ignored the disaster. What we should all hope is that we learned something from the mistakes made and that they will not be repeated. As a society these days we are too interested in fixing blame, rather than working towards reasonable solutions to benefit all.

Semper Fi 83: Would you rather have had John F***ing Kerry - who by the way, served in Vietnam (and was "awarded" several Purple Hearts) - run the country for the last three years, or would you rather have had tree hugging Algore - with his "Inconvenient Truth(sic)" and his "Assault on Reason" - run the country for the last eight years? We haven't had a terrorist attack happen on American soil since 9/11; but we have had several attempts thwarted!
If you want Obama or Mrs. Bill Clinton to be our next President, be prepared to convert to renounce Christianity, embrace Islam, kneel and pray toward Mecca five times a day, saying Allah Akbar! or to "literally" lose your head!
I have been a Christian for the last 42 years. I listen to Christian radio, Laura Ingraham and Rush Limbaugh, receive daily e-mail reports and news from American Family Association, CitizenLink/Focus on the Family, News With Views and others. I have done some study of Mormons, Masons and Islam and don't see much difference between the three group's religious beliefs; but I would still vote for Mitt Romney in the Republican Primary if Fred Thompson doesn't run!

That's why I am a supporter. I want to ignore disaster. And I see big trouble coming from this next administration no matter who is elected. We all need to join together in prayer, for there is trouble on the way. I am no politician and I believe that we as God's people should be praying for all our leaders, the good as well as the bad.We also should be careful not to criticize them.

this world is in bad shape - we need to accept that and not ignore disaster, republicans and democrats and independents alike

The reason why you get the response you do when you bring up the Prez is because people who support him do not share the capacity to have compassion with those unlike themselves. It's all based on an ignorant sociesty who chooses to believe in an administration that is corrupt and has a redneck way of doing things because they themselves live that way. There is an entire block of people who will stick with this jerk we call our leader until the very end because they think that because they are a Republican they need to support their party. It is so like people that are out of touch with reality to follow a "party" as opposed to an accomplished mission that has the benefit of us all in mind. They will never want to understand why there are so many of "us" mad at Bush...PLEASE tell me what he has done to BENEFIT MY AMERICA????? If you bring up 911 I'll vomit! I'm not a Democrat, Liberal or Republican. I am an American, hard working women, a Christian too, that is waiting for the only leader we all need, JESUS!!!!!!!
If we are proud to be Americans, why are so many of you so hateful and racist towards those less fortunate? Why is it so hard for you to see beyond your own back yards? Of course our society needs help and I believe God is the key, BUT, people who allow a person like Bush to be what we as humans hold up as a leader we are saying that unless your rich, white and Republican you need to fend for yourselves!!!!!

Knowing Bush and his supporters they probably would have clamied that there was nothing wrong with the ship even as the water was up to their necks.
In all honesty, I have heard of Conservatives that showed their true colors and high tailed it to the lifeboats (Ismay) and there were Conservatives that refused to get on a lifeboat unitl every person was off the ship (Isador Straus)
So what do I think would happen. Bush would convince his supporters that everything was fine, from a lifeboat.
Many people would say that I am a blue level liberal, since I come from a blue state. But to use a famous Conservative motto from the 50's. Better dead than red.

I think there are people in both parties that would ignore a disaster. It's the "nothing bad will happen to me" syndrome.

So you are of the opinion that like the titanic, the ship is sinking. Would you admit that there is the chance that your analysis of the situation is wrong?
You look at Bush's supporters as if they are wrong and incapable of rational thought. They look at you that way. It's never a good idea to cling to one perspective so much that it blinds you. Your fervor on the topic looks to be an indication that you are unwilling to look at any other persepctive. You are entrenched. Lighten up.
