how do i find out if a vanity plate is taken in minnesota?

My husband and i want to get personalized license plates for our cars and want to find out if the ideas we have are already being used by someone else. I have searched the Minnesota DMV and can't find a way to do a search find out if our names are available. I know other states, ie. California, let people search for this. Anyone know how to do this for Minnesota?

Call the DMV and have them run the plates that you want and see if they come up blank.

In KY you have to list 3 different names for the plate, just in case the first two are already taken. good luck.
