I just put $3000 into a 1997 Pontiac Gramd-Am. Three tires are new. My steering wheel shakes a little and my car pulls to the right. I checked my left front tire - that is not new - and the outside edge of the tire is worn. Could this be the problem? I have no idea why my car, all of a sudden pulls to the right. Can anyone give me some ideas here of what is wrong before I spend more money. Is this a tire problem? Thank you. Happy 4th of July.

Yes, move that tire to the rear of the car. Check for difference in handling.
Might need to re-balance the front wheels-you may've shed a wheel weight.

Your car has an alignment problem. If the outside of the left tire is worn, it appears to be Toeing-in. You should be able to get a front wheel alignment at any service place (including Jiffy Lube or Sears) for about $60.

Sounds to me as if your left front tire is cupped,(worn along the outside edge from being out of alignment), and your front end is out of alignment. Always put your best tires on the front, and keep your front end in alignment. This will keep your car from pulling to either side of center.

Yes. This just happened to my car. I needed a wheel alignment. Because i didn't get one for a while, the tires wore unevenly, causing the steering wheel to shake. Since your other tire is worn, and the others aren't, it causes the wheel to shake and your car to pull. You need a new tire!

if the tire was won on the edge it wouldnt cause the problem feel the center of the tire and see if it is sunken in it would cause the vibration or you need an alignment

three new tires and one front is not new rotate tires put two matching tires on the front it will probably fix it. if not then get front end checked and aligned.

It could be the tire, but more likely your brakes. Have you driven over any thing that could have knocked your alignment out of wack?

Go buy the fourth tire, and have an alignment done.

you might have to have it lined up, especially the toe-in. a low tire can make it wander also. check the front end to see if its all tight.
