Woke this morning and there was white stuff smeared on my vehicles, I think lotion. Washed it off drove around the block to dry the car and it quit. Pulled the fuel filter thinking sugar in the gas tank. The gasoline I drained from the tank came out as a thick grey-milky semi liquid. I was also missing some soda pops out of an ice chest I keep in the back of my truck. I don't think water would do this, according to info found on the 'net sugar doesn't do this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be???

OUCH. That is going to give you some trouble. You will have to pull the tank and have it cleaned. You might want to take it to a radiator repair shop and have it professionally cleaned. You will also want to clean the fuel pump, the sending unit for the gas gauge, and there may be a filter on the pickup tube. After that, clean out the fuel lines and replace the filter.

Hopefully, it hasn't gotten into the injectors, but you may want to have them pulled and cleaned.

needless to say, you need an alarm system and a locking gas cap. On my truck, I have a magnetic switch wired to the alarm, so if the gas door opens the alarm goes off and it will also buzz my remote to let me know there is an alarm.

Good luck on catching the vandals. If you do, turn them over to the police and sue them for damages. That should get there attention.

If it was a caramel based soda (like pepsi, coke) I would imagine the soda reacting with the gas to make that grey-milky substance.

Filter may get most of it. But that has to hurt. I really don't know what to tell ya.....sorry.

If you have comprehensive insurance on your car it will cover these damages. You will need to come up with the deductible. Comprehensive claims DO NOT raise your insurance.

This damage can be a never ending headache. Today we don't know how much of the fuel system may have been damaged.

Pulled off the tank, and either replace it or have it cleaned out. Your engine may need to be flushed out as well. Purchase a locked gas cap next time.

sounds like you have some bad neighbors. it could be someone put sand in your tank.its probably already in the injectors. if it was in the gas filter, then its in the tank also, so you will have to drop the tank and clean it out and unhook the lines and blow them out.

If they put lotion on the car, you probably have lotion in the tank...
