Probably because he started at ND for 4 years. Notre Dame is in the national spotlight. Once your on TV and start for four years, scouts and critics know your good and they then find reasons to knock you and your abliities. JaMarcus Russell was only a starter in college like for 1 1/2 years and I believe he had a starting job at LSU at one point and lost it for poor play. He was only a starter for a few years, so the critics had enough time to start liking him. Also Brady Quinn had a horrible Bowl Game and Russell had a good one. So People feel he's overrated cause he had a bad Bowl Game and they had over-exposure of him so they ran out of good things to say about him. Quinn needs to stop whining about being in the top 10 of the draft, sign for whatever the 23rd pick is supposed to sign for and get into camp.

Ok jamarcus russell lovers are idiots. He's a choke artist. I'm a Florida fan, I know. So everyone thinks Brady Quinn is overrated. What kind of B.S. is that. "He played for Notre Dame so he sucks". Shut up. Troy Smith sucks and I never hear anyone say anything about how the wrong person got the heisman now. Brady Quinn is better at the position than Jamarcus Russell by far. It is not his fault for the Sugar Bowl disaster. Everyone knows that his teams secondary was terrible, therefore Jamarcus Russell looked really good. And he was taken number one so nobody looked at how he fumbles on the one yard line and throws 3 picks. Or how he was completely shut down at Auburn. And Dwayne Jarrett is too cocky to win a rookie of the year. Brady Quinn is the best rookie this year and he will win the award for it. Oh and by the way people I'm a dolphins fan so when he wins it, I'm gonna be even more pissed that we took a return man (with a frickin broken foot) for our first overall pick. Screw dolphins GM.

Because he plays for a school that plays very poor division 1 programs as well as 4-5 of the top schools in the country. Because he doesn't win the big game, despite the fact his defense is not top 50 quality. Because, because, because.
Notre Dame shouldn't be criticized for playing Army, Navy, and Air Force every year. This is a tradition that predates the BCS, the big TV contract, and most of you haters who weren't born yet when they started playing these teams. I like the fact ND(I am not a fan) sticks to their guns and plays a NATIONAL schedule. When is the last time Florida or Miami actually played someone decent outside their conference or their state, like say, USC, or Michigan, or Penn State? Not since I have been alive.
Brady Quinn is overrated because he lost most of the big games he played in college, just like...ummm... wait for it.......
PEYTON MANNING.

The better question is, how can any of you people pretend to have an informed opinion on whether he is overrated or not when he hasn't even played his first NFL game yet, get over yourselves people, you cant rate someone who hasn't played yet

He is very overrated...here are some reasons.
1. Hes accuarccy is very avrage you see him miss a lot of throws either to low or to high.
2. He did not play good either in big games or aginst good defences. Aginst LSU he only manged a few points, and all big games I can think of he had a sub-pargame.
3. Now you hear him struggling in camp.
---------obvisuly the NFL didnt think much of him if he went 22nd--------

because he played at ND and he was too hyped up. there is a reason why he fell to #22, after coaches broke down his throwing motion frame by frame on tape, they concluded that he really isnt all that accurate. which is why the browns were able to pick him up. if he were that good, than crennel wouldnt be starting derek anderson in the home opener.

He's not overrated at all! In fact, he's very underrated. He SHOULD have gone to the Raiders with the first overall pick, and NOT the VERY overrated Russell.
