I took the pill for about 8 months. I stopped for a couple of months, now I am back on the pill. What are the odds sof getting pregnant if I have unprotected sex this month?

It's definately possible. Use a condom if you don't want to take a chance.

If you use the Sunday start method (you started your pills the Sunday after your period started), you MUST use back up contraception for the first 7 days of the pill; after that time, you are protected against pregnancy. If you use the first day start method (you started your pills the same day your period started), you are immediately protected.

Of course both of these methods rely upon the fact that you take your pills DAILY and do NOT skip. That is the only way to ensure reliability of ANY contraceptive....vigilance and faithful usage.

Brutally honest is correct, that is technically how your pills should work. If you want to be safe though, use a back up method for the first month so you know they have taken affect.

When you restart you pills, they take a week to work...so for the first week you can get pregnant if you don't use a condom. After that... you're fine as long as you take them at the same time everyday.
