4TH OF JULY

The 4th of July is a favorite holiday of many Americans. It is a day of picnics, hot dogs, parades, baseball, fireworks, and lots of red, white, and blue. Of course, although many Americans dutifully and happily celebrate the 4th of July, not all of them understand exactly what it means.

The 4th of July is also known as Independence Day in the United States. Independence from whom? The Kingdom of Great Britain. When? 1776.

Many people assume that the 4th of July was the day that we won the American Revolution and officially gained our independence from Great Britain, but this is not true. The formal ending of the American Revolutionary War was on September 3, 1783. This is the day that the Treaty of Paris was signed, officially ending the war, on paper.

Some people also mistakenly believe that our 4th of July celebrations mark the day that the American Revolution started, but the war started in 1775, and the 4th of July marks and event that happened in 1776!

1) Field Hockey might, ice hockey probably never in England. It doesn't do too bad in Northern Ireland though. 2) Not a player, but the coach Herb Brooks will always be one of my favourite people in hockey. 3) Colorado Avalanche 4) I don't even think Ottawa has more than one or two Americans, I guess Foligno is the best, he was born in Buffalo when his Dad played there I think. 5) Shawn McEachern 6) Mike Richter 7) I'd say somewhere outside of the top 5, baseball, football, basketball, NASCAR and golf would all be ahead of it for sure. 8) I'm Canadian, I live close to Maine and Rick Dipietro is probably the best player every from that state (that I can think of off the top of my head at least). 9) I actually like the current ones best, the original ones were great too though. The one with the Capital Building on it was just terrible. 10) On Canada Day I watched NHL Free Agent Frenzy on TSN2 most of the afternoon because I was sick. Then I went to fireworks in the evening. And happy late Independence Day to all the Americans on here.

July 4th, 1776, the date the Declaration of Independence was officially signed. It's also (July 4th some fifty years later) the date on which Thomas Jeffereson and John Adams both passed away.
So, your question is?

I actually believe this is the day the Declaration was first signed. If I remember right it took 4-5 days to complete the signing.

Hope everyone living legally in the country enjoys the rights our forefathers fought for.

If you are here illegally then maybe you need to take some steps to make it legal, otherwise hide in your house in shame today because you are now trying to steal our celebration!
