i definately do! call me stupid but its the way me and my friends were raised, for example, some of the things that we believe do and dont do:

dont smash mirrors (bad luck not 7 years though!!)
dont walk under ladders
dont put new shoes on work surfaces like tables or kitchen countertops
black cats BRING LUCK
seeing a single magpie is a bad omen
spilling salt is bad luck unless you throw it over your right shoulder as soon as spiling it
horseshoes are good luck
four or five leaf clovers bring good luck!
also not covering your shoulders during weddings or funerals shows disrespect big time!

the magpie thing is the worst! i had a whole heap of bad luck on my family after seeing a lot of single ones over a week or so

but thats just my view! lol

Yep... sorta...
I WONT walk underneath a ladder coz my bro did and it fell on him.
I hold my breath while going past a cemetary... its something my cousins and i made up, it's respect 4 the dead coz we respect that they can't breathe so we dont....weird i know.
I have CRACKED a mirror - it didnt fully break and i got 7 days bad luck... 1st day- i sprained my ankle, 2nd, i broke 3 fingers, 3rd, i got the flu.... etc, etc.... and that is completely true.
If i spill salt i throw a pinch of it over my left shoulder...

I think you get the point... i'm superstitious, but only for specific reasons.

I believe in a lot of things many people would choose to call superstitions [because they choose not to believe in them].

However,

I don't believe in the superstition that science knows all the answers,

I don't believe in the superstition that some particular religious doctrine provides all the answers,

I don't believe in the superstition that anyone who answers this question knows any more about the issue than anyone else who answers this question [aside from myself].

I believe [smilingly] that the Coincidence Coordinators rule the universe and the activities of man, and that sometimes they enjoy throwing monkey wrenches into human certainties.

I believe in the superstition that [almost] everyone who answers this question arrived at his/her opinions concerning superstition by being told by someone else what the answer is, and believing it.

I believe in the superstition that whomever told them was also told by someone else what to believe, and believed it.

ad infinitum

Yes, I am aware of what the word 'superstition' means.
This is a good question - for the Polls & Surveys category.

does "Believing that you will go to a place with fire and brimstone if you don't pretend to cannabilize your God's mortal body" count?

In that case, there's a rather large amount of superstitious people around.
